On Television: November
Here’s some interesting things (well, I think so) coming up on television this month. As I find out about more programs, I’ll add them to the list.
- Having absolutely nothing to do with my classes, except maybe government, there is a multi-part series this month on PBS (Channel 13) about the British Monarchy, called, Monarchy: The Royal Family at Work It begins on Wednesday, November 12 at 8:00pm with parts 1 and 2. Parts 3 and 4 are next Wednesday the 19th , also at 8:00pm. It concludes on November 26th. It’s also broadcast in HD on channels 513 (Fios) and 713 (Time Warner). Click the link above for more info about the series from the BBC.
- On Monday, November 17th at 9:00pm, also on channel 13, the American Experience, Oswald’s Ghost takes a fresh look at the Kennedy assassination. It doesn’t support any of the conspiracy theories, but looks at the impact of the event on our history. Following that show is a look at how the news of the president’s assassination was reported. It should be a good look at the difference in television news today as compared to 45 years ago.
- On the History Channel, Modern Marvels, at 7:00pm, Friday, November 14th, Civil War Technology. On Wednesday, November 26th at 8:00pm, Secret Access: Air Force One- take a look at one of the perks of being President, a nice plane. Following that at 9:00pm, The White House: Behind Closed Doors a look at the Obama family’s new home.
